Åžükrü YemenicioÄŸlu Elementary School

was established in 1966 and started education. The school was donated by Åžükrü YemenicioÄŸlu, because of that his name was given to our school. In 1997-98 academic year, primary education was realized. Our school, which has three floors, was built in 2010 and now our 7-storey school has been demolished within the scope of ismep.
Our school is elementary school. We have 1926 students and 66 teachers. There are 48 classrooms, also there are 6 kindergarten classses. We are both teaching how to behave and basic math, turkish, english etc. We want to introduce our country and culture; besides that, we will learn the other cultures. So, we will change our perspectives and enrich our knowledge about the other countries.
Aysel MERT, Zuhal DEMÄ°R, Figen ODABAÅžIOÄžLU, Mithat ÇATAR are the Key people at this
project, Mehmet ÇALGIÇ , Mustafa Güven ZINGIL are the teachers to join project in case of
withdrawal of the key teachers. The school administration (secretary, bookkeeper, accountant) has the necessary skills and expertise of handling the administrative and financial issues connected with project management.
There are many social activities in our school. The gaming, theater, folk games, ballet-binding courses, model airplane course, painting, literacy, gifted person course, chess course. reading activities are our book. Our school has received a nutrition-friendly and healthy school award. Our guide teacher joined the program with the name of an expert psychologist in many TV channels and announced the name of our school.
We have introduced our school on social media and have brought us to the desired school status. Our school is located in the GaziosmanpaÅŸa district of Istanbul, one of the most crowded and socioeconomic areas. We are doing a good work with the devoted work and administrative harmony of our teachers. We aim to increase the success of our school. We want to improve our school's vision with Erasmus project.
By taking part in EU projects we would like to expose our students to an international environment where they are able to demonstrate responsibility for carrying out certain tasks, share the knowledge they have brought with them (geography, history, biology, arts, IT etc), cooperate with peers from other countries, report for what they have done, represent their culture, communicate with peers in English and also create new ideas, activities and solutions that would suit everyone in a group. This would enable them to accept and love the differences in language, history and culture, in the way of working and sharing. We would like to offer this possibility to our students to enrich them for the future life in the European Community where they need to know as much as possible about their
neighbours in order to be able to successfully cooperate.
